To help eliminate distances between underserved geographies and development, the team at VNL is traveling the distance from New Delhi to Lagos, to participate in the Indo-Africa ICT Expo 2017. We are re-imagining the digital dream for Africa and will be showcasing our ground breaking Digital Village solutions for rural broadband and telephony that can change the face of connectivity across the continent.

We are going by the zero distance ideology under which the target is to reduce distances between people and places to a virtual 0 km. We believe any nation can only truly progress when each of its citizens, is connected to one another and the rest of the world. Mobile penetration in Africa stands at 44% and internet penetration is a lowly 31%. In a world, where almost everything is powered by the internet, Africa has some catching up to do.

At the ICT Expo we will present what the Digital Village solution can mean for the nation’s progress. We will also be showcasing our disaster management and enterprise connectivity solutions. Karenda, a digital village in Rajasthan has seen continued progress in areas such as e-Education, e-Health, e-Banking and e-Governance since mobile and broadband connectivity was introduced in the village by VNL, two years ago. Similar success stories have been created in left-wing extremism affected states in India. People are now better equipped to combat insurgency in these areas. In addition, our rural telephony solutions have been successfully deployed in Bhutan, Peru and Indonesia connecting millions of citizens.

A highly effective and scalable connectivity model has emerged in Karenda which can be replicated across all underserved regions in Africa in a short span of time. We are imagining a world in which the distance from rural Africa to e-Banking, e-Education, e-Health, e-Governance, disaster relief and productivity is zero kilometers. Connectivity powered by VNL can give wheels to the country’s progress and development.
